Position Overview: Porch Light Health is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team. As a Staff Accountant, you will play a key role in managing financial records, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting various accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Maintenance:
- Assist in maintaining and reconciling the general ledger.
- Prepare journal entries and ensure accurate posting of transactions.
- Review and analyze account balances for accuracy.
- Account Reconciliation:
- Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Investigate discrepancies and ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure that financial reports are accurate, compliant with accounting standards, and submitted on time.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable:
- Process invoices and payments, ensuring proper coding and approval.
- Assist with the preparation and review of accounts payable/receivable aging reports.
- Payroll Support:
- Assist with payroll processing, ensuring accuracy in deductions and tax filings.
- Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Tax Preparation and Compliance:
- Assist in the preparation of sales tax, income tax, and other regulatory filings.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and accounting regulations.
- Audit Preparation:
- Support internal and external auditors during audits and reviews.
- Provide necessary documentation and assist with audit inquiries.
- Other Duties:
- Provide support for special accounting projects as needed.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or Finance, Required
- Experience: 1-3 years of accounting experience (internships or entry-level roles considered).
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, etc.).
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

- Experience with financial software systems and ERP systems.
