What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Operator 1 position at Port Jersey Logistics?
Operate motorized industrial trolleys to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, machines, and loading docks, to railroad cars or trucks or storage facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Obtain a copy of the shipping or receiving order and transport materials or equipment to and from designated areas within the facility.
- Load and unload goods from vehicles such as trucks, containers, trailers, or vans.
- Move packaged goods on pallets or boxes throughout the storage facility.
- Stack goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions.
- Verify that loads are secure.
- Stack empty pallets.
- Perform daily equipment checks, such as recharging the forklift battery and lubricating equipment.
- Remove machine accessories and waste from them.
- Inspect products to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Empty materials into machine hoppers.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE
To successfully perform this job, an individual must have the following education and / or experience.
Experience with clamp trucks is preferred but not required.
