What are the responsibilities and job description for the Real Estate Intern position at Port Of Corpus Christi Authority?
This position is under general supervision of the Real Estate and Right of Way Specialist. The Real Estate Intern will focus on the application of new strategy and technology in the administration of the Real Estate GIS system. The Real Estate Intern will have an opportunity to learn the basics of GIS, as well as grow into a GIS expert.
Essential Functions:
While performing duties employee is regularly required to sit, speak or hear, use hand finger movements; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach stoop, kneel and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Environmental Factors:
General office and outdoor work environments.
Minimum Qualifications:
This is an internship position. Candidates shall be enrolled in an accredited college or university. Degree paths best suited to this position are in Business Administration or Geography Information Science, Geomatics, Geospatial Systems Engineering or Geoscience; demonstrated written and oral proficiency in the English language; proficiency in Spanish preferred. Strong writing, editing and graphic communication skills, organizational and time management skills; ability to operate a personal computer and a variety of programs, office equipment, and internet. Must deal effectively with the public and varying levels of management.

- Assist managing digitizing infrastructure, lease agreements, easements agreements and legacy data into the Real Estate GIS system
- Conduct on-ground evaluation of properties
- Create reliable data to meet operational and daily system maintenance needs
- Conduct desktop GIS tasks, such as creating maps, maintaining the Real Estate GIS system, querying data, editing data, aerial interpretation, and creating parcels using metes and bounds descriptions
- Assist with database administration and maintenance
- Create feature layers from various operational and/or legacy data sources
- Compile and clean data from various datasets and sources
- Update and maintain databases using geographic information software (ArcGIS Pro)
- Identify and classify legal documents for geographic representation
- Read and interpret legal descriptions, plat maps, and create GIS-related source material
- Map and edit parcels and data in GIS to reflect lease agreements, easement agreements and recorded deeds
- Develop graphic representations of geospatial data including maps, charts and other graphic information displays as requested
- Review and evaluate data to ensure accuracy
- Conduct accurate network analysis and compelling visualizations
