What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Intern position at Port of Tacoma?
This internship will support accounting team during Budget, CIP preparation, and help with backfill during the Yardi replacement assessment/project and Maximo integration/data validation and inventory reconciliations.
This position will engage with all aspects of full-cycle accounting to include transaction processing, journal entries and account reconciliations as well as the preparation and analysis of financial managerial reporting. This will be a great opportunity for someone to have exposure to an entire financial operation and understand how an organization depends on this critical work.
This internship is expected to start on or around June 1st for up to 3 months.
Hours will be Monday-Friday, 20-24 hours a week between 8 am and 5 pm.
Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college, university or enrolled in an accredited graduate school. Coursework and interest in accounting, and related fields is preferred.
Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office software applications. Strong oral and written communication skills and comfort with numbers and quantitative reasoning are necessary. Experience with Microsoft Excel is preferred. This position requires a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work with supervision from a variety of subject matter experts.
All individuals offered an internship must provide acceptable proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States. Proof will be required prior to starting.

Compensation
Undergraduate students: $20.00/hour
Graduate students: $25.00/hour
