What are the responsibilities and job description for the Work Based Learning Teacher-PHS position at Portage Township Schools?
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: The following responsibilities are required of the position, plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the building principal.
Create an online course for students related to career development, work ethic, etc
Maintain and issue grades for the course(s)
Develop and improve relationships with local businesses, industry, and community organizations
Make industry connections for the purpose of facilitating real-world experiences for the students
Facilitate student learning through projects, discussions, cooperative learning
Create and maintain a database of employers for student internships and apprenticeships
Network with community employers to place students into jobs
Communicate with employers on the student’s progress
Arrange the Career Discovery Meetings for Juniors and Seniors per HEA 1002-2023
Coordinate state mandated Career Fair
CTE liaison
Assist students with the creation of their Scholar Track accounts
Track student work hours
Attend Professional Development regarding WBL
Be knowledgeable regarding state guides around WBL
Write letters of recommendation for students as needed
Review and Evaluate curriculum
Assist students with obtaining the Work Ethic Certificate
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Students, volunteers, assistants
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: Indiana License to teach- Business/License Preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully preform the essential functions of the job.
The general physical demands include: standing up to four hours, climbing, bending, stooping and lifting up to 20 lbs as part of routine job activities within the classroom environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
