Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team and support the educational needs of students in a special education setting. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and helping them reach their full potential. We have a variety of positions to fill throughout Porter County schools with a range of hours from 3-28 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
- Provide support to students with special needs in various educational settings
- Collaborate with teachers to create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Assist students with personal care tasks as needed
- Support students in developing social skills and positive behavior management techniques
- Help with classroom activities and instructional tasks
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents regarding student progress
Experience
- Experience working in a preschool or early childhood education setting is preferred
- Familiarity with behavior management techniques and strategies
- Knowledge of special education practices and principles
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, teachers, and parents
- Ability to work collaboratively in a classroom setting
- Previous experience in childcare or related fields is a plus
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 3 – 28 per week
