Marine Technician (Entry-Level)
We are looking for an entry-level marine technician who is passionate about the marine trade to join our team! Experience is preferred but we are also willing to train the right individual who has an eye for detail, a positive attitude, follows procedure & safety protocols, enjoys troubleshooting and working with their hands.
Who We Are: We are a small, and growing, marine repair business located on the Merrimack River in Newburyport, Massachusetts. We repair and service inboard and outboard marine engines; install, diagnose and repair boat systems and perform routine exterior maintenance and boat detailing (bottom paint, buff/wax, etc.). We provide services at our shop location and onsite at local marinas in Newburyport.
What You Will Do: You will work closely with our certified marine technicians to learn routine outboard engine maintenance and exterior boat maintenance & detailing. Job duties include (but are not limited to): moving boats on trailers, boat detailing, bottom painting, shrink wrapping, maintaining a clean/organized shop space and ensuring work vehicles are clean. You will be assisting our certified technicians with routine engine maintenance under their supervision. You will also be expected to advance your skills as a technician by participating in manufacturer-sponsored training programs.
Qualifications/Experience/Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a vocational marine technology training program (preferred but not required).
- Valid driver’s licens
- General knowledge of boats and boating
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Hard worker with attention to detail
- Ability to organize and prioritize
- Background-check and health assessment may be required as part of our pre-employment process.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, climb equipment steps or ladders, and/or walk around the yard as needed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- Noise level is usually moderate
- Must work outside and be subject to adverse weather conditions
