The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing the company's accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, month-end closing procedures, and additional accounting-related tasks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. Start-Up mentality required.

What You'll Do
- Perform mid-level general ledger account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Generate detailed financial reports and verify data to assist senior management in evaluating financial options and aligning decisions with company goals.
- Monitor and assess accounting policies and procedures across assigned departments, recommending improvements to enhance reporting processes and efficiency.
- Stay informed on current and evolving legislation to ensure compliance with national and local financial regulations.
- Engage in continuous professional development through webinars, workshops, and industry events to stay updated on best practices and regulatory changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable: Submit payments, update vendor data, clear payments, monitor cash flow, and reconcile invoices.
- Accounts Receivable: Create invoices, reconcile with books, issue credit notes, follow up on overdue items, and ensure billing accuracy.
- Payroll: Process semi-monthly payrolls, manage deductions, administer time-keeping, and handle state registrations.
- Month-End: Perform bank reconciliations, P&L checks, and manage deferred revenue and accruals, and preparation of Month End financial statements.
- Additional Tasks: Assist with legal requests, maintain capacity planning files, monitor inventory, and handle ad-hoc requests.
Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in accounting, business accounting, or finance
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Experience in audit accounting
Ability to keep all company-sensitive documents and systems secure
Non-Negotiables
Be willing to travel to the CFO's home on occasion to work together
Reside in or near the Maryland border - Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC, Pennsylvania
