ABOUT THE ROLE :

We are seeking a talented Development Communications Specialist to craft compelling stories and donor-focused content that inspires support for our client’s mission. This role requires a skilled writer with a passion for creating persuasive campaigns across email, direct mail, websites, and other channels. This is a hybrid position, though strong remote candidates may also be considered.

  • Location : Hybrid (remote candidates may be considered)
  • Type : Full-Time, Benefits Eligible
  • Duration : Long-Term Contract (at least 6 months)

ABOUT OUR CLIENT :

Our client is a leading educational and healthcare institution, dedicated to making a significant impact through its research, education, and patient care initiatives. They are seeking an experienced Development Communications Specialist to join their team and help amplify the support of their community of donors, creating lasting change through effective storytelling and compelling appeals. Through powerful storytelling and strategic communication, this role will play a key part in advancing life-changing education, research, and healthcare initiatives.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develop persuasive and engaging content for annual giving campaigns, ensuring alignment with the client’s mission and fundraising goals.
  • Write and edit donor-focused copy for various channels, including direct mail, email, social media, and websites, tailored to specific donor segments.
  • Conduct research to identify impactful storytelling opportunities that showcase the outcomes and importance of donor contributions.
  • Collaborate with designers, digital strategists, and data teams to create impactful, visually appealing campaigns.
  • Partner with leadership to refine donor segmentation and ensure messaging resonates across diverse audiences.
  • Analyze campaign performance, using data to refine messaging and optimize future campaigns aimed at increasing donor participation and gift size.
  • Test and optimize messaging through A / B testing and data-driven insights to drive engagement.
  • Edit and proofread all copy to maintain clarity, accuracy, and consistency with brand voice.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of fundraising content while aligning with broader organizational strategies.
  • REQUIRED SKILLS :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, English, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in copywriting, preferably in nonprofit, fundraising, or donor-focused contexts.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with an eye for detail.
  • Ability to craft emotionally resonant, donor-centric messages that drive engagement and contributions.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to identify and develop key storytelling opportunities.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing strategies, including email marketing and audience segmentation.
  • Experience with tools like Mailchimp, Salesforce, or similar CRM platforms.
  • Demonstrated expertise in optimizing email subject lines, CTAs, and layouts for increased donor engagement.
  • Experience with A / B testing and using performance metrics to optimize content.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
