Job Description
The Co:Laboratory Summer Camp Assistant role at PAM CUT will provide additional support to PAM CUT’s summer youth camp instructors. This role will work closely with youth ages 8 to 14 and assist the teaching artists with camp setups and other classroom needs. The Summer Camp Assistant will assist and monitor camp attendees, maintain a clean classroom and well organized art supplies and equipment.
PAM CUT is the place to be for what’s new, now, next in multimedia storytelling. Kids and teens ages 8-14 learn from teaching artists and experts in their field to immerse themselves in media art making, ranging from creature creation, stop motion animation, DJing, pod casting, and more! Camps take place Monday through Friday at PAM CUT’s headquarters June 16 - August 15, (10 AM-2:30 PM, with one 3-day camp on June 30-July 2 (10 AM-2:30 PM).

In this role, you will
- Assist with the setup and break down of classrooms, materials, and equipment
- Maintain the cleanliness of classrooms and general facilities
- Ensure campers are monitored with proper staff to camper ratios at all times
- Uphold PAM CUT safety, security, and COVID-19 procedures
- Communicate with parents/caregivers as needed
- Assist Teaching Artists with the weekly end of camp presentation
- Collaborate with Teaching Artists and PAM CUT staff to carry out shared ideas and resources for a successful camp experience
- Work to create an inclusive and energetic environment to ensure a positive, safe, and inspiring experience for all campers
- Assist Teaching Artists in a range of media arts programming
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Introductory experience working with youth in camps, classrooms, or after-school settings
- General familiarity and a level of comfort with technology
- Experience in the media arts, ideally as they relate to animation in its many forms is preferred
- Passion for youth arts education and dedication to empowering youth to share their voice and perspectives
- Work requires continual attention to detail
- Strong leadership skills, specifically with respect to youth
- Exercise good judgment in emergency situations and when working with varied personalities and backgrounds
- Flexibility to assist Instructors by pivoting to implement new ways of teaching to best fit the situation
- Work in a team environment with minimal supervision
Job conditions & physical activities
- Temporary full time position with expected start date of June 9th, 2025 and a end date of August 22nd, 2025
- Schedule/Hours: Monday through Friday from 9 AM-3:00 PM, 30 hrs/week (4 hours for the camp, one hour before camp, 30 minutes after camp)
- Onsite/Not Remote
- Frequently lift/carry/push/pull up to 30 lbs
- Frequently communicate with children and camp instructors
- Frequently move about the camps
- Continual visual check of the camp attendees
Benefits
- This role is non-exempt/hourly and temporary with an estimated end date of August 22, 2025
- The budgeted compensation falls within pay grade B ($15.95 minimum - $17.92 midpoint - $19.91 maximum), based on experience.
