Portland Community College’s Arts, Humanities, Communication and Design (AHCD) Academic and Career Pathway is seeking a full-time faculty member in Studio Art at the Cascade Campus with a specialization in Printmaking and a foundational 2-D area such as drawing, painting, digital photography, or basic design. AHCD is seeking an instructor that has an understanding, knowledge and experience to teach foundational and contemporary practices of Printmaking (etching, relief, serigraphy, etc). About the Art, Humanities, Communication and Design (AHCD) Academic and Career Pathway Program
The AHCD Pathway welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and abilities to study and develop their skills in preparation for a variety of careers and/or transfer to four-year institutions. The faculty work with administrative staff, casual staff, student workers and Pathway leadership to enhance our students’ learning experience by ensuring classes and facilities are well supported. Faculty have the ability to make sound decisions regarding whether they are able to provide appropriate support and instruction or can seek assistance from fellow faculty, the Faculty Department Chair, administrative assistant or the Art and Design Program Dean. Remote work and the use of technology to perform duties off site may be needed.

The Studio Art program is housed under the Art and Design Program which is comprised of eight (8) areas of study:
Architectural Design and Drafting- Art
- Graphic Design
- Interior Design
- Music
- Music and Sonic Arts
- Multimedia
- Theater Arts
These areas often work in collaboration to help enhance our students’ college learning experiences.
PCC has a long established Studio Art program that offers courses in Painting, Drawing, Photography, Basic Design, Sculpture, Printmaking, Ceramics, and other areas of specialty. It also includes campus-based Art Galleries that function as learning spaces for students that regularly host exhibitions from local and regional artists.
Nature and Scope of Work
Faculty are expected to remain current in their respective fields and in pedagogy, maintain College safety standards in their work areas, ensure that students are trained in good safety practices and make reasonable efforts to ensure that students follow good safety practices. Faculty are expected to be committed to a culture which values human diversity in all its forms and to bring culturally responsive educational practices to serve our students.
Faculty instruct students in current studio art practices and help ensure safe teaching spaces for instruction with assistance from the instructional support technician/lab tech. May provide work direction to work-study, student helpers, and casual employees.

- A strong commitment to teaching in a community college setting with student-centered teaching practices that reflect an understanding of the experiences of students from diverse backgrounds, including students of color, LGBTQ students, first-generation college students, economically disadvantaged individuals, and students with disabilities.
- Ability to contextualize art within broader social, cultural, and economic contexts.
- Demonstrated active professional practice and proficiency in a range of Printmaking processes, plus proficiency in another 2D foundational area.
- Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary art, theory, and practice.
Ability to collaborate with Art colleagues toward course and program evaluation, planning, and improvement.

PCC Full-Time Faculty Schedule 2022/23
PCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. PCC currently funds the Oregon Public Employees Retirement System (PERS/OPSRP) pension and contributes an additional 6% into the employee's Individual Account Program under PERS/OPSRP. A portion of the 6% will be diverted to The Employee Pension Stability Account as mandated by Senate Bill 1049. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
