What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Recovery Program Coordinator position at Portland Recovery Community Center?
Position Summary:
The Youth Recovery Program Coordinator is responsible for fostering collaborative community partnerships to build, support, and launch a youth recovery coach program at PRCC. The coordinator will work with the Statewide Recovery Coach Coordinator and other regional recovery coach coordinators to recruit, train, and support paid and volunteer youth recovery coaches. The right individual is highly motivated, a facilitative leader, and has excellent communication and community relations skills. The coordinator should have a strong understanding of substance use disorders, addiction recovery and of the recovery community. This position will help to develop family and youth programming in the community and at Portland Recovery Community Center.
This is a one-year project with the potential for longer based on performance and funding.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop youth and family programming to include All Recovery for Youth and All Recovery for Parents, as well as hosting family resource and support meetings for the community.
- Recruit, train, support and coordinate volunteer and paid youth recovery coaches in a variety of settings.
- Support youth recovery coaches in scheduling and managing coaching sessions and will work to expand coaches’ engagement in various systems such as schools, workforce, community, healthcare, and other systems of care.
- Provide mentoring, resource navigation assistance, and general recovery support to youth ages 14-21 who are seeking recovery or have been impacted by substance use disorder in their families/loved ones.
- Foster partnerships with certified prevention specialists to develop best practice and training guidelines for peer youth coaches.
- Collaborate with statewide recovery coaching coordinators to map youth services currently provided through recovery community centers.
- Ensure quality assurance through accurate records and regular Coachervison (supervision).

Professional Qualifications:
- Lived experience in recovery preferred with a passion for supporting young people
- Familiarity with substance use disorders and recovery, support of multiple pathways of
- Personal characteristics of professionalism with a sincere desire to work with youth that are seeking recovery or are affected by someone else’s substance use.
- Strong project management and development skills needed
- Team player, able to work and communicate well with
- Warm, patient, and personable approach with the ability to work with diverse people and settings
- Highly motivated with ability to work independently from office or in the community
- Comfortable with public speaking and able to manage and present information effectively to a wide variety of audiences.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external
- Ability to exercise good judgment and hold strong boundaries
- Responsive to time-sensitive organizational priorities and competing demands.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to listen well and write and speak
- Complete CCAR Recovery Coach Academy for Young People, CCAR Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches in first 60 days of hire to become a trained trainer.
- Facilitate CCAR Recovery Coach Academy for Young People, CCAR Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches, and other training as needed.
- Ability to become or currently are a Maine registered or certified Recovery Coach, meeting the requirements of the Maine Recovery Coach Certification Board (MRCCB).
- Must pass sex offender background
- Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle for travel throughout the community.

Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position, including occasional evenings, weekends and statewide travel.
