What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Camps Coach position at Portland Timbers?
PTFC Camp Coaches are responsible for developing the soccer skills of youth campers at Portland Timbers Soccer Camps. Camp Coaches supervise campers aged 5-13, ensuring their safety, development, growth, and general well-being. Camp Coaches will also have the opportunity to coach campers ages 14-18 at our competitive camps. This is an irregular part-time, non-exempt position.
Essential Functions/ Major Responsibilities:
- Come to camp prepared to teach your assigned skills/sessions
- Arrive 1 hour before camp begins
- Assist the Camp Director with setting up and taking down equipment each day
- Engage with campers before and after camp
- Follow and support the Camp Director’s instructions and schedule throughout the week
- Complete evaluations or certificates for each camper in your group
- Closely follow and uphold all safety protocols
- Be available to work our weekly summer camps beginning the week of June 16th through the end of August.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Provide support to other departments within the Portland Timbers organization during additional coaching opportunities/events
- Communicate feedback or areas for improvement to Camps Manager
Requirements:
- Previous Soccer Experience (Playing, Coaching, Team Management)
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Experience working with children and/or teens
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and pay close attention to details and directions given by director
- Act as a leader for campers and community
- Ability to transport yourself to and from camp locations
- Ability to work actively in an outdoor setting for the duration of your event
- Availability to work full weeks of camp between June 16th and August 31st. The majority of camps run from 9:00am-2:00pm or 1:00pm-5:00pm Monday through Friday.
