JOB SUMMARY: The Human Resources Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources department including recruiting, benefits administration, employee relations, counseling, leaves of absence management, training and development, and enforcing company policies and practices.
THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS OF THIS JOB INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
• Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
• Partners with the HR Director to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
• Provides support and guidance to HR Assistant, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
• Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for hourly, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
• Administration, tracking and communication of leaves of absence, and working closely with employees and managers.
• Prepares and presents training sessions for employees and supervisors on topics such as wage & hour laws, anti-harassment, orientations and other company initiatives.
• Assist with benefits enrollment and conduct annual open enrollment meetings for all employees
• Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
• Assists with employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES:
• Observe guidelines for using and maintaining all pertinent equipment. Promptly report all safety hazards and maintenance requirements.
• Observe safe work habits as outlined in Portola Hotel & Spa policies and procedures. Must wear required safety gear as mandated by the job. Strictly adhere to all hotel Security policies and promptly report suspicious behavior, unusual items or activities.
Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL / CERTIFICATION / LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma / G.E.D.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Must demonstrate fluency in the utilization of Word, Excel, and Email programs. Must have a high level of skill in handling sensitive information and confidential situations/information with the demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Must be able to communicate professionally via phone and email, manage several email accounts, answer all incoming calls, manage a phone logging system, and process all incoming faxes as need in an efficient and timely manner. Must be able to demonstrate effective time management, high level of attention to detail, work well in a team, active listening, critical thinking and professionalism.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
2-years of previous HR management experience
