Location Description:
The Lawrence, Kansas facility is 236,000 square feet and home to about 155 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles 'n Bits®. Lawrence is a college town and the home to both the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University with Kansas State University about 85 miles away. The city is known for a thriving music and art scene and is also the home of the University of Kansas athletic teams.
Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
The Storeroom Clerk is responsible for the parts flow and storage in the maintenance parts room and warehouses and for the distribution of these parts to appropriate departments. The Storeroom Clerk will work closely with maintenance and operations departments to ensure appropriate inventory levels of stocked parts are addressed. The successful candidate will be organized, self-motivated, independent and have a strong background in storeroom policies and procedures.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm with occasional weekend overtime
Starting Pay Rate: $25.44 per hour

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains high levels of customer service between vendors, operations, and maintenance technicians.
- Ensures adherence by all personnel, vendors, and contractors to all workflow processes.
- Maintain the stock required for all plant supplies by receiving and stocking identified supplies. Also provide recommendations on stock levels and items required.
- Ensure all items requested and ordered adhere to pre-approved plant standards and policies (ex. chemicals, safety items, etc.)
- Responsible for the receipt, acceptance, and storage of all parts to the facility.
- Responsible for the packaging and routing of equipment to vendors for OEM level repairs.
- Work with the Storeroom Supervisor on all storeroom orders with additions/deletions/changes to inventory levels, part numbers, and vendors.
- Maintains inventory, calibration and tracking of equipment.
- Ensures parts are properly kitted, staged and tracked for all Work Orders.
- Maintain required files and documentation.
- Support, coach, and train plant personnel on storeroom operations and guidelines.
- Consistently and constantly looking and applying ways to save money.
- Active member of the contractor/visitor safety system.
- Provide backup to the Storeroom Supervisor as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Education
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent required
Experience
- Experience with receiving and managing inventory preferred
- Experience with inventory software and processes
- Experience in creating, establishing procedures
Other
- Strong use of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong verbal and communication skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with suppliers, team members, and other departments within the Lawrence plant.
- Able to comprehend and follow Storeroom training documentation.
- Utilize computer and perform cycle counts of components. Analyze cycle count information to determine root cause and corrective action. Resolve all errors by research and auditing of transactions.
- Package, create and band equipment, parts, materials, products and accessories to minimize damage during shipment or staging.
- Apply labels, stickers, stencils as required for identification and ease of storage or shipping.
- Closely follow established procedures for completing assigned functions and perform special assignments and/or projects as assigned.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance when required to ensure peak performance of all manufacturing equipment.
- Exhibit a strong adherence to quality by continually seeking methods of improvement for all functions of the position. Ensure that all products and parts adequately meet quality guidelines as they move throughout the production process. Perform quality checks as instructed.
- Comply with all safety and industrial hygiene requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner.
- Keep assigned work areas clean and organized.
- Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve any obstacles or delays that may occur.
- Safe operations of electric pallet jack, fork-truck and lifts.
