Position Title: General Manager
Location: The Hamptons - Sag Harbor, NY
Reports To: Co-Owners
Job Overview
The General Manager of Post House will oversee the day-to-day operations and ensure that the facility runs smoothly, efficiently, and profitably. This individual will manage staff, clients, and overall business functions, including customer service and the company's mindbody software. The General Manager will work to create a welcoming and motivating environment for members while ensuring all gym operations are in compliance with regulations and company standards.
The General Manager will need to be on-site 6:30AM-2:30PM Tuesday-Saturday with another 10-15 hours per week on email that can be done off-site.
Key Responsibilities: Staff Management
- Recruit, train, and oversee all staff members, including trainers, front desk personnel, and fitness partnerships.
- Develop schedules and assign duties to staff, ensuring the gym is always appropriately staffed during operational hours.
- Point of contact for the Mindbody schedule. This includes making changes to class schedules, personal training appointments, and trainer availability.
- Foster a positive and motivating work environment to ensure staff morale and retention.
Membership and Customer Service
- Address and resolve any client concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Oversee company email booking service and client profiles
- Ensure members receive the best possible customer experience by maintaining high service standards.
3. Operations and Facility Management
- Ensure gym facilities are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
- Oversee equipment maintenance, repair, and replacement, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
- Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed for smooth gym operations.
4. Financial Management
- Oversee the front desk in billing and collections for PT and class packages, ensuring all payments are processed accurately and on time.
5. Marketing and Community Engagement
- Collaborate with marketing and social media teams to create and implement weekly news letters
- Help to orangize and execute community outreach and gym events, including fitness classes, branded colloborations, or wellness programs.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: A bachelor's degree in business management, sports management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in gym management or related roles.
- Proven experience in team leadership and staff management.
- Strong understanding of gym operations, membership sales, and customer service.
- Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge of fitness trends, gym equipment, and fitness programs.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Proficiency in gym management software - Mindbody.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move gym equipment.
- Must be able to stand, walk, and move around the gym for long periods.
