What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Service Lead position at Potawatomi Zoo?
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with the efficient operation of the Zoo Food Service and Bar areas as well as catering to optimize sales, profits and customer service as well as oversee the operation of a work unit including the direction of staff, equipment, supplies and special events. This position reports directly to the Director of Food Service.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the direction of personnel within the Foodservice and Bar areas including employee development and performance, working directly in the departments and management in the absence of the Manager.
- Possess or be able to obtain certification in food service management.
- Assisting with daily reports for sales and inventory.
- Responsible for performing inventories, cash counts, and assisting with purchasing.
- Coordinate with other departments and provide support and resources for the development of new projects and services.
- Plan, organize and direct activities, including implementing procedures for the efficient operation of the store, continually analyzing the operation and implementing changes designed to improve overall efficiency and profitability, provide supporting documentation for any changes.
- Ensure cleanliness and overall appearance of the facility.
- Address customer services issues including special orders, complaints, etc.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the goals and mission of the Zoo as assigned by the Manager.

- Interpersonal Communication – Must present company-wide announcements and position statement related to policy and procedural matters.
- Cash register, computer including Word and Excel basics, and other office equipment including telephones, copier, fax, POS systems, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 2 years management experience, superior planning, systems and communication skills, and a working knowledge of computers and inventory systems. High school diploma required. Indiana driver’s license required. Must be able to stand, walk, bend and occasionally sit for long periods. Requires lifting and handling materials which may exceed 25 pounds. Ability to work weekdays, weekends, holidays and evenings as required as this is a seven day per week operation.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
