As a 7th Geography teacher at the Poteau 7th and 8th Grade Center, you will be responsible for teaching fundamental geographical concepts, fostering critical thinking, and preparing students for future learning through engaging lessons, assessments, and classroom management, while adhering to Oklahoma State Standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Curriculum:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with Oklahoma Social Studies Standards for 7th grade Geography.
- Utilize various teaching methods, including lectures, discussions, group activities, projects, and technology, to cater to diverse learning styles.
- Develop and administer assessments (tests, quizzes, projects) to evaluate student understanding and progress.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
- Stay current with developments in geography education and best practices.
- Classroom Management:
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel safe and respected.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a productive learning environment.
- Address student behavior issues promptly and fairly.
- Student Support:
