As the 7th and 8th grade math teacher at the Poteau 7th and 8th Grade Center, your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement engaging math lessons that align with state standards. You will assess student learning and foster a positive and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Instruction:
- Plan and deliver engaging math lessons aligned with Oklahoma state standards and district curriculum.
- Develop and implement effective instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs.
- Create and assign learning projects, essays, tests, quizzes, and homework.
Assessment and Feedback:
- Assess student learning through various methods, including formative and summative assessments.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their work.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and performance.
Classroom Management and Environment:
- Create and maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and student engagement.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to ensure a productive learning environment.
- Supervise students during class time and other school activities.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
- Collaborate with colleagues administrators, and other staff members to improve teaching and learning.
Professional Development:
- Stay current with best practices in mathematics education through professional development and training.
- Participate in school-wide initiatives and activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, social studies Education, or a related field.
- Oklahoma teaching license or eligibility for licensure.
- Experience teaching middle school geography or social studies preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
Other Duties:
- May be required to supervise students during lunch, recess, or other school activities.
- Assist with school events and activities as needed.
