Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Field Service Engineering Technician to install, commission, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical switchgear controls and standby power systems. This role requires extensive travel to client sites and a strong technical background in power distribution systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and repair electrical switchgear controls and standby power systems.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure peak performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical issues in power control systems.
- Read, interpret, and redline electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Work with PLC and ladder logic for system programming and troubleshooting.
- Configure and troubleshoot SCADA, HMI, and communication networks (Modbus, Ethernet, fiber optics).
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
- Document service activities through detailed reports and client communication.
- Provide technical support and training to clients and junior engineers.
- Travel extensively to client sites, sometimes on short notice.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 3 years of hands-on experience with switchgear controls and standby systems.
- Strong knowledge of power distribution, control systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics and working with PLC programming.
- Familiarity with SCADA, HMI, Modbus, Ethernet, and fiber optic networks.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and travel up to 60%, including weekends and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (not required).
- Experience with Siemens, ABB, Eaton, Schneider switchgear and control systems.
- Additional certifications in electrical safety or power systems.
