Potters Industries in Canby, OR is currently hiring for a Production Technician I. This role is responsible for performing various tasks to ensure the efficient packaging of finished products according to the plant production schedule and established operating standards. The Production Technician I will operate machinery, maintain production flow, and ensure safety and quality standards are met while assisting with additional duties as assigned. This is a full-time, permanent position with opportunities for growth and development.
Shift Availability:
- Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (10-hour shift)

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all tasks are performed safely in compliance with HSE rules and regulations.
- Set up, prepare, and monitor machines/equipment used for packaging, including Robot/Palletizer, heat sealers, sifters, and other necessary equipment.
- Complete all production technician duties to meet production requirements.
- Perform bagging of 50-pound product bags, bulk sack filling, and pail/drum filling.
- Stack bags and pails weighing 50 lbs.
- Rework tasks such as cutting bags, boxes, and stainless steel (s/s) items, and rework them into the process as needed.
- Assist with discard dust management.
- Safely operate sweepers, forklifts, scales, and banders.
- Pull Work In Progress (WIP) inventory as required.
- Perform close-up duties, including banding, heat sealing, and final QC inspection of packaging.
- Maintain a clean Packaging Supply Room with good housekeeping practices.
- Coordinate with Quality Control to ensure correct labeling, lot numbers, product codes, and spec compliance.
- Complete required daily documentation and inspections.
- Set up packaging printers and robot programs.
- Load and unload trucks as necessary.
- Participate in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) activities.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Post-high school technical school or college education is a plus
Experience:
- 1-3 years of manufacturing environment experience preferred
- 1-3 years of forklift operation experience or certification preferred
Skills/Knowledge:
- Basic computer knowledge (email, data entry)
- Strong work ethic and team-oriented attitude
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
Working Environment & Physical Demands:
- Plant environment with high heat temperatures
- Ability to lift and move 50 lbs.
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist, push, and squat throughout the workday
- Must be able to hear and respond to machinery alarms and sounds
