What are the responsibilities and job description for the (3) Building Aide position at Pottsgrove Middle School?
Pottsgrove School District is currently seeking three Building Aides at the Middle School (2) and High School (1).
JOB SUMMARY: Provide a safe and secure environment for the school population before, during, and after school hours. This includes monitoring at arrival, lunch, change of classes, dismissal coverage of classes, and providing assistance in the student services centers.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor students at arrival, in the cafeteria, change of classes, and dismissal as assigned, and provide assistance in the student services centers.
- Work closely with the Assistant Principal, Principal, and teachers.
- Provide safety and security to students, faculty, staff, and visitors before, during and after the school day.
- Provide a visible presence during lunch periods and monitor students during lunch periods
- Provide student supervision assistance and monitor students as needed and assigned.
- Maintain communication with teachers to retrieve work assignments for students as needed.
- Escort students from their classrooms to student service centers as needed and provide necessary assistance in the student service centers including supervising lunch periods while maintaining communication with building administration.
- Provide assistance to handicapped and injured students who require the elevator or the nurse’s station.
- Provide a visible presence and assist during large school events, such as assemblies, pep rallies, and special events.
- Assist with canine searches and other student searches as needed.
- Furnish office supplies to the staff; monitor the supply room when time permits.
- Implement and complete corresponding paperwork regarding student discipline as needed and in alignment with district policy and the student handbook.
- Assist the school nurse with student emergencies.
- Maintain communication with Guidance Counselors when appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma required
- Submission of pre-employment medical examination (Section 148 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
- Submission of a report of criminal history record from the Pennsylvania State Police (Section 111 of the Pennsylvania School Code)
- FBI Criminal History Record
- Submission of a clearance report from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare in accordance with Act 151 of 1994
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to reach above and below the waist
- Ability to use fingers to pick, feel and grasp objects
- Ability to lift and/or carry supplies and/or papers weighing no more than 20 lbs.
- Ability to mostly sit with some walking, standing or moving throughout the work environment
SALARY: $17.35 per hour
MIDDLE SCHOOL SCHEDULE: 9:30 AM to 3:15 PM (5.25 hours/day)
HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULE: 8:30 AM to 1:45 PM (5.25 hours/day)
Must have current Act 34, 151 & 114 Clearances
