Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association is seeking a Line Equipment Technician who wants an exciting work atmosphere and to be a part of a team dedicated to exceptional service.
The Line Equipment Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of all specialized electronic and mechanical line and substation infrastructure to ensure the distribution system operates in a safe, efficient and reliable manner to serve the members of the Association.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining, programming and troubleshooting all field devices such as reclosers, recloser controls, relays, regulators, transformers, and all other electronic, electrical, and mechanical devices, online equipment and substation systems.
- Develop and apply new programs for all electronic devices such as reclosers, regulators, etc. and test the full functionality of the devices with the programs to ensure proper operation and measurement of quantities.
- Make recommendations regarding all equipment related system maintenance and performance and any changes needed to improve the operation of the equipment or systems.
- Managing all aspects and compliance with the Associations required PCB program screen, testing, and official compliance documentation on all insulating oils for dielectric and PCB contamination levels.
- Inspect and test CTs, PTs, and wiring of primary metering for accuracy and assist with wiring of overhead and underground CT/PT rated services when needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required, associate degree in a technical field or industry specific certifications are preferred; forklift certification is required and must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
- Five years of experience in a related position is required. Must have working knowledge of substations, and/or line equipment including experience with mechanical and electrical tools and equipment.
