ACCOUNTING CLERK

Summary

This entry-level position will work closely with other Poukihi staff members and potentially external clients' staff. Functions performed involve the accounting and administrative functions of assigned clients in a variety of industries.

Client Accounting Services

· Timely communication and follow-up with the client as appropriate to obtain missing information, clarity or other details needed to record a transaction.

· Respond in a timely manner to Client requests for financial information that is readily available from systems (bank balance, last payment issues/received, etc.).

Client Reporting

· Assist with the preparation of financial information including dashboards, financial statements (Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Cash Flow) and other financial reports for review.

Accounting Systems

· Develop and possess proficient working knowledge of all accounting systems used by clients including integrated systems (eg. Square, Shopify, etc.).

Accounts Payable

· Maintain accurate vendor ledgers: setup, recording bills, recording payments with attention to proper authorization, coding, and documentation.

· Coordinate and communicate the processing of vendor payments via paper checks or online/electronic payments.

Accounts Receivable

· Maintain accurate customer ledgers: setup, recording invoices, recording receipts with attention to proper authorization, coding and documentation.

· Coordinate and communicate the processing of bank deposits including preparing deposits and taking the deposits to a bank branch.

Administrative Tasks

· Organize and manage all financial and administrative files and ensure they are orderly, safe, and secure.

· Complete accurate timesheets in a timely manner.

Education/Work Experience

· Associate's degree from an accredited higher institution or pursuing a degree with a focus in Accounting

· 0-3 years work experience

· Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Suite products with a Basic level of competency in Excel (basic data entry and formatting, simple formula usage (eg. SUM, AVERGE), basic chart creation, cell formatting and basic functions).

· It is expected that this position will complete his/her assigned tasks accurately and timely.

· It is expected that this position will ask questions if the task or instructions are unclear.

· It is expected that this position will advise his/her supervisor when his/her tasks are complete or if deadlines cannot be met.

· It is expected that this position can manage his/her daily work schedule with guidance from his/her supervisor.

· It is expected that this position will offer suggestions to improve processes and respond in a timely manner to all communications and follow-up. "Timely" is defined as within 1 business day for an initial response

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
