As the Head Brewer, your ultimate responsibility is to produce the highest quality and maximum quantity of beer on the designated brewhouse equipment. You will be overseeing all brewhouse operations from grain to glass. You will be our production schedule wizard and with your creative direction, you will manage all inventory and brewing schedules when necessary. With your leadership, the team will have the support, knowledge, and resources to offer our guests the best beer experience possible.

THE GRIND - RELIABLE TO THE CORE
KPI: Never out of core beers
This position requires organization and planning, and whilst this isn’t glamorous it is essential to the job. You should view The Grind as an integral part of the day to day running of your brewery and understand that an organized brewery leads to consistent and high quality beer production.
- Curate a thoughtful and interesting tap list that uplifts and caterers to your community at all times
- Thoughtfully create delicious beer recipes, while adhering to quality standards
- Execute full maintenance walkthroughs on a weekly basis and ensure all maintenance needs are addressed
- Manage all beer fermentation from production to sale. Ensuring minimal waste.
- Manage all line cleaning and equipment maintenance
- Develop and execute timely production schedules
- Develop, establish, and enforce brewery operation How To’s
- Keep the brewery area clean and organized
- Guarantee compliant sanitation practices and brewery safety standards
- Manage all TTB and state filings
- Manage all TTB label approval requirements
THE BREAD & BUTTER - RUN THE BUSINESS
KPI: Production costs always fall within targets, pre agreed with GM
The Head Brewer is expected to deliver consistent, high quality production while also hitting production margins, meet brewing deadlines, while working in tandem with the General Manager to hit these goals. Whilst creativity and innovation is a must for this position, the real impact is made through maximizing the profitability of the brewery.
- Place all brewing orders (grain, hops, yeast etc.) adhering the weekly and quarterly budget
- Maintain profitable supplier contracts (grain, hops, yeast, keg rentals etc.)
- Work alongside the GM to analyze all relevant P&L items to ensure alignment with financial targets and be able to offer a full breakdown of the numbers
- Review the previous month's performance {sales numbers and COGS} and set follow up goals and budgets with the venue GM.
- Create P&L action plans each period and quarter after assessing the data
- Be aware and thoughtful when naming beers
- Manage production based on demand, ensuring no empty tap handles and minimal waste
- Communicate with management and the FOH team on a monthly basis, to educate about new beers, inventory, challenges, etc.
- Coaching all Pouring With Heart employees on beer and brewing from grain to glass
- Be the focal point for all beer and brewing education in the venue. Hosting a tasting and education section of the monthly staff workshop
- Unify the brewery teams and promote personal and professional growth
- Be an active and current member of the The Brewers Guild and The Brewers Association
- Work in conjunction with the management team in recruiting, hiring, and training brewery teams
- Increase barrel production each year with the goal to reach maximum output

KPI: Create and host at least 1 beer community event each quarter
