Director of IT Operations
Job Status: Full-time, year-round salary exempt position. This position will have the flexibility to work in a hybrid capacity with the requirement to be located at Powder HQ in Eden, UT

Reporting to the Chief People & Technology Officer, the Director of Technology plays a key leadership role in overseeing and advancing the technological strategy and operations of the organization. This position requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in technology management, strategic planning, and team leadership, to include a combination of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and effective communication skills. The Director of Technology will collaborate with various departments to align technology solutions with organizational goals and drive innovation, being a key partner to business leaders across resort, club and corporate operations
Responsibilities:
Technology Strategy:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the organization's business objectives.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends to ensure the company remains at the forefront of innovation.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to define technology-related goals and priorities.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Provide strong leadership to the technology team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of technology professionals.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for projects and regularly assess and report on project performance. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement.
Applications:
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of IT applications, from conception to retirement. This includes planning, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Manage relationships with third-party application vendors. Evaluate and select new applications when needed, ensuring that they align with organizational goals and integrate seamlessly with existing systems.
- Continuously assess and optimize the performance of existing applications. Identify opportunities for enhancements and coordinate with the development team to implement improvements.
- Collaborate with the IT support team to ensure effective end-user support for applications. Develop and implement training programs to enhance user proficiency and maximize the value of applications.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other departments to understand their technology needs and ensure that technology solutions support business processes.
- Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders, translating technical concepts into understandable terms.
- Collaborate with business leaders to align projects with organizational goals. Develop and communicate a clear project strategy, including scope, timeline, and resource requirements.
Cloud Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive cloud strategy aligned with business objectives. Assess the feasibility and benefits of migrating existing systems to the cloud and guide the organization in adopting cloud technologies.
- Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure costs. Develop and implement cost-effective strategies, considering factors such as resource utilization, scalability, and reserved capacity.
- Oversee the integration of cloud services with existing on-premises systems. Ensure interoperability and data consistency across hybrid environments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 15 years of tech leadership experience preferred
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team.
- In-depth knowledge of technology trends and best practices.
- Project management experience, with a track record of successful project delivery.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards.
