Job Title: Porter
Department: Food & Beverage
Status: Seasonal FT, PT. On-call
Reporting To: Commissary Chef
Position Summary:
Powder Mountain is seeking Porters to join our culinary team. This is a great start in the culinary arts world. Fun atmosphere, excellent benefits, and career opportunity!
Job Performance Expectations:
- Ability to work 8am-4pm, M-F
- Age 16
- Minimal experience required
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable Transportation preferred. Must be able to drive in adverse weather or use UTA.
- Be a team player, have a "can do" attitude, be willing to learn.
- Scrape, rinse, and load all back-of-house and front-of-house dishes and utensils into dish machine, as needed at Bower Lodge
- Wash, sanitize, unload and organize all pans, utensils, and dishes
- Be vigilant about cast iron equipment and NOT run them through the machine
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain dish machine
- Empty trash containers of the kitchen space as needed
- Maintain a clean work area and kitchen & front area by sweeping and mopping as needed
- Perform additional cleaning duties as requested by Chef
- Adhere to Powder Mountain's Policy and Procedures
- Help maintain janitorial stock lists
- Reports directly to Chef
- Clean and tidy appearance/ wear a uniform.
- Have awareness and discretion of guests, be polite
- Breaking down and deep cleaning of kitchen spaces
- Occasionally assist in the Commissary Kitchen and perform their shift duties when needed
- Very punctual
- Break down boxes to make space in the dumpster
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
- Food handlers permit through Weber County Health Department
- Knowledge of kitchen terminology (behind, corner, hot) to notify your peers of your presence
- Ability to learn and grow which will enable you to anticipate your peer’s needs
- Non slip shoes required in all kitchens
Physical Requirements - Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. Know your limits.
- Ability to continually bend, kneel, and reach
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
- Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of bi-manual dexterity and fine motor skills (knives, slicers, mixers, pots, pans, other sharp objects, electrical shocks, etc)
Working Environment: Multi-tasking, fast paced work environment, being accustomed to going from a hot space to a cold space, loud noises of pots or pans, ability to trek through snow to take trash and boxes out.
