Requirements
Role: Snowcat Operator - Level III
Status: Seasonal Full Time, Hourly
Shift: Day Shift, Afternoon/Evening, Night
Reporting To: Manager of Snow Operations
The role of Level 3 Groomers is to provide safe and efficient grooming of all Powder Mountain trails and slopes. The operator will possess sufficient ability and experience to groom safely independently or with a team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prefer that the applicant has experience with various snow and weather conditions and can operate a variety of snowcats
- Understand and perform all safety aspects of equipment operation
- Understand and perform all pre-shift equipment checks on any Powder Mountain equipment
- Understand and perform all post-shift equipment checks on any Powder Mountain equipment
- Read and understand all Powder Mountain Grooming manuals
- Acquire knowledge of the mountain (Names and locations of trails, Traverses, Lifts, and other facilities)
- Be aware of fixed obstacles (Trees, Buildings, Rope lines, Trail signs and Maps)
- Prefer applicants with advanced skiing or snowboarding ability
- Ability to work safely and efficiently
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Ability to communicate and work well with the Terrain Park Manager and The Slopes Manager
- Must demonstrate excellent attention to detail
- Willing to help other departments as the need arises
Job Requirements:
- Preferred 5 to 10 years of experience in snowcat operations.
- Preferred heavy and grooming equipment experience (front-end loaders, snow cats and related equipment).
- Basic understanding of all Pre and Post shift equipment checks
- If necessary, work hours other than scheduled pertaining to weather conditions.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, and rain, on varied snow surfaces
- Overall understanding of Powder Mountains policies and procedures
- Good work ethic polite to co-workers and follows directions when being asked to undergo a task
- Must be dependable and have excellent communication skills
- Reliable transportation, preferably 4x4 vehicle
Level 3 Requirements:
- Senior-level position requiring significant experience and expertise in Grooming.
- It requires advanced technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle complex grooming issues.
- Knowledge of winch, Zaugg, snowblower and other specialty attachments preferred.
- Often involves mentoring and training junior mechanics and collaborating with other departments.
- May require specialized certifications or licenses, and a proven track record of success in Grooming.
- Operates independently with little supervision and may oversee the work of lower-level Groomers.
- Be able to make independent decisions and work alone throughout the shift.
- Ability to cut and delineate sides of groomed trails.
- Maintain ramps.
- Ability to Groom in adverse conditions.
