JOB SUMMARY:

The Food & Beverage Department is a fun and exciting way to join the ski industry and the Monarch family.  This department is an upbeat and fast paced environment that provides opportunities to earn and play in the mountains.  Enjoy working in the Food & Beverage environment then the perks of your complimentary Monarch Mountain Season Pass.  The Food & Beverage Manager should have a positive attitude, enjoy managing and operating multiple food venues, and strive for a clean and organized work environment.   The Food & Beverage Manager will ensure that every guest has the best possible food and food service experience at Monarch by providing excellent customer service directly, as well as through every staff member.  In the summer season, the Food and Beverage Manager will assist other departments and needs of the mountain for on-site projects and summer operation at The Crest. 

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The Food & Beverage Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for ensuring all forms, tracking, verifications, and necessary documents are executed and accurately completed in a timely manner.  This includes, though not limited to requests, training, invoices, payroll, time-keeping, fiscal responsibilities, incidents, disciplinary actions...etc.
  • Perform the hiring and termination of approximately 40 to 60 departmental employees.
  • Provide guidance and oversee the efficient scheduling of department staff based on projected skier budget and adjusting to actual requirements as appropriate.
  • Oversee the initial and ongoing training of departmental staff.
  • Provide timely employee feedback and conduct qualitative performance reviews of department staff on a regular basis.  Include your level 1 & 2 managerial staff, as appropriate, in accomplishing A-team reviews.
  • Operate within budgetary constraints for the current season; contribute to departmental budget proposal for the following season.
  • Identify, research, and submit departmental capital requests for fiscal review.
  • Work in conjunction with other departments as part of the Monarch team.
  • Develop, review, and maintain on a regular basis training materials, manuals, job descriptions, and any other documents necessary for the overall success of the department.
  • Prepare and oversee department personnel in the event of an emergency.
  • Identify and train personnel for opportunities within the department for the purpose of retaining valuable and interested employees, and the filling of key positions in the event of a departure.
  • Provide professional solutions and courteous assistance in problem solving for both guests and employees.  
  • Monitor and maintain the inventory and condition of department supplies, products, properties, and facilities.
  • Oversees all operations of the Food and Beverage department including the Gunbarrel Café, Sidewinder Saloon, Java Stop, Elmo’s and any other food and/or beverage operations on the premises or at The Crest.
  • Oversee the operational supervisors of the Gunbarrel Café and the Sidewinder Saloon.
  • Assure that all Health, OSHA, and Building Codes are met to the highest standard.
  • Assist in the marketing of Monarch as it pertains to the Food and Beverage department as well as any other manner prescribed.
  • See to the continual progression and growth of the department both financially and conceptually.
  • Be the point person and coordinator for Monarch special events involving F&B. Communicate and organize effectively with other departments as necessary.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Age: 21
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Legal citizen of the United States or possess other proper work permit authentication.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and work with hot cooking appliances.
  • A valid driver’s license and good, company insurable driving record required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management and F&B experience. Including back office food administration, invoicing, inventory, and cost management.
  • Working knowledge of ski area operations.
  • TIPS and ServSafe certification required. 
  • Ability to push, lift, and move up to 50 lbs.


JOB TYPE:  Year-Round, Full Time


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Compensation: Begins at $57,000 per yearactual pay will be adjusted based on experience/length of service
