Financial Controller
Power Equipment Distributors – Richmond, MI
What You'll Be Doing
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, business activity reports, forecasts, and budgets.
- Supervise and mentor a team of 2-4 accounting department employees, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and professional development.
- Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, claims, billing, collections, payroll, and budgeting.
- Prepare and analyze various business data to support strategic decision-making.
- Conduct or coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
- Support the preparation of company tax returns and ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
- Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
- Monitor financial activities to ensure all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
- Oversee all aspects of fleet management, including purchase and sale of vehicles, Dept of Transportation filings, ELD and other compliance pieces.
- Work with team to ensure timely and accurate completion of accounting tasks and reconciliations.
- This will involve support of outside sales team needs including commission/registration conflicts and claims escalation and support.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information.
- Assist with sales tax compliance.
- Assist with establishing sound and efficient accounting standards, policies, and procedures to facilitate and monitor operations and to protect and control assets of the organization.

What We'll Need from You
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field is required. CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
- Three years of proven working experience as a Controller or in a similar financial management role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and accounting software. Experience with ERP software, such as Infor Distribution SX.e, is preferred but not required.
- Detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy. Strong time management, organizational, and project management skills. Excellent communication skills are required for success in this role. Strong customer service skills.
- Must be a self-starter, show initiative, and have the discipline to focus on goals with a commitment to the outcome.
When and Where You'll Be Working
- This is a full-time position with varying shifts from Monday through Friday to cover business needs. Weekly local travel between company locations may be required on an infrequent basis. Occasional extended days and/or weekend hours may be required.

Pay Range
- 95,000 - 110,000/yearly
NO RELOCATION OFFERED. Must be able to work in the US for any employer and report IN OFFICE to the Richmond, MI location
