ENGINEERING MANAGER - POWER ELECTRONICS
Location: Kansas City, KS area
Compensation to: $175K
Power Technology Associates, Inc. has been retained to staff an Engineering Manager for a developer of power electronic products. The position requires an experienced leader responsible for managing, planning, and improving operations across a variety of power electronics development projects for aerospace, military and automotive applications. Projects will include the development of low-voltage and high-voltage power supplies, power converters, sensors, and passive components. This role handles major, complex assignments with long-term business impact, leads a design team, and plays a key role in shaping business success.

- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
- Plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects — ensuring on-time, on-budget, and in-scope delivery.
- Provide technical guidance and ensure adherence to industry best practices and standards.
- Design, implement, and refine product development, testing, and manufacturing processes.
- Manage engineering staff and assign tasks based on project needs.
- Lead teams in the development of new products, solutions, and processes.
- Oversee project budgets and apply cost management strategies.
- Monitor expenses and ensure cost-effective operations.
- Continuously strive to improve process efficiency, product sustainability, and waste reduction.
- Communicate technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including investors and customers.
- Maintain expertise in relevant engineering fields.
- Ensure processes meet quality and safety compliance standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, sales, and marketing teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and guide decisions.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or another core engineering discipline.
- Proven experience managing engineers, ideally in the aerospace and/or defense sector.
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, especially in aerospace product development.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills; effective communicator at all levels.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; professional representation of the company to both internal and external stakeholders.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required (due to ITAR regulations).
