Job Title: Project Accounting Specialist

Position Overview:
The Project Accounting Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the financial management of our projects. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The specialist will work closely with project managers, financial analysts, and other stakeholders to ensure the accurate tracking of project costs, billing, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Cost Tracking: Monitor and track costs associated with ongoing projects, ensuring they align with project budgets and financial forecasts.
- Billing & Invoicing: Prepare and process project invoices in a timely manner, ensuring they are accurate and in compliance with contractual agreements.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing regular financial reports for project managers and senior leadership, including budget vs. actual analysis and variance explanations.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile project-related financial accounts and ensure all expenses are appropriately allocated to the correct projects.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Support the development of project budgets and forecasts, collaborating with project managers to ensure financial resources are properly allocated.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all project financials are compliant with company policies, accounting standards, and industry regulations.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with project managers and other departments to address financial issues, resolve discrepancies, and ensure smooth project execution.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary project financial documentation and supporting data.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not required
- Experience: At least 2-4 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on project accounting or construction/engineering finance (preferred).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software is a plus, e.g. Sage Intacct and Microsoft Excel (advanced level).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and project management concepts.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and thoroughness.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
