Responsibilities:
The Shipping/Receiving Specialist is responsible for assisting the site with material handling, shipping, receiving, supporting all necessary documentation, and data entry as required. Additionally responsible for building and securing large crates and shipping containers for finished product. When not needed for S&R tasks, this person may be asked to perform basic manufacturing support. This is a first (1) shift role working 40-45 hours per week.
- Receive and record computer entries for all inbound materials.
- Inspect shipments to ensure correct order fulfillment and ensure no damage.
- Deliver or route materials to departments using hand truck, fork truck, conveyor, or sorting bins.
- Stage and stock parts to proper locations.
- Collaborate with internal and external parties to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications.
- Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped.
- Compute amounts, such as space available, shipping, storage, or demurrage charges, using computer or price list.
- Contact carrier representatives to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
- Prepare documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
- Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
- Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
- Build secure wooden crates, shipping containers and other packaging, as needed.
- Measure product or material dimensions.
- Examine and inspect containers, materials, or products to ensure that product quality and packing specifications are met, including photographic evidence.
- Assemble, line, and pad cartons, crates, and containers, using hand tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
1 years’ experience with receiving /inventory.
Valid Driver’s license and good driving record.
Need to be able to operate a forklift
Ability to lift up to 50pounds at times
Computer skills to update inventory within our ERP System (Visual), along with advanced MS Excel Skills
Preferred Skills:
- 3 years’ experience with receiving /inventory
- Any international and domestic shipping
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Forklift and Crane operation certification
- OSHA-10 certification
Knowledge and Skill:
- Ability to safely work with saws, and hand tools
- Production and Processing — Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods preferred.
- Experience using an ERP, MRP, or Inventory Management System is desired.
- Requires a general knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- English Language —Ability to communicate orally and in writing. In addition, must be able to comprehend, read and interpret blueprints and documents, such as contracts.
