JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Commonwealth Office of Technology, Southern Field Services Branch, is seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Desktop Support Technician to provide essential IT support in the Somerset area. This role involves assisting agency users with technical issues, both remotely and in person, requiring a strong blend of technical expertise and customer service skills.
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and be physically capable of lifting and transporting equipment or working in physically demanding conditions. Experience in desktop support, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair in a Windows environment, as well as basic network troubleshooting skills, is required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support desktops, laptops, and other devices in a Windows environment through installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Address technical issues for agency users both in person and remotely, ensuring a professional and user-focused experience.
- Perform basic network troubleshooting, such as addressing connectivity issues and device configurations.
- Document technical issues and solutions in the ticketing system for tracking and reporting.
- Maintain hardware and software inventories.
- Adhere to IT policies and contribute to improving service delivery practices.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing Windows-based systems.
- Basic knowledge of network troubleshooting and configuration.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical capability to lift and transport equipment or work in challenging physical conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certifications such as CompTIA A or Network preferred).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Prior experience in desktop support or a related IT support role.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Experience with operating system imaging and deployment.
- Familiarity with IT security tools and best practices.
- Proficiency in using remote support tools.

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
