The Commonwealth Office of Technology is seeking a Desktop Support Engineer to provide IT support and troubleshooting for end users. This role requires at least one year of IT experience, strong technical skills, and the ability to resolve software and hardware issues efficiently. Attendance and punctuality are critical for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide onsite and remote desktop support for Windows 7 and 10.
· Assist with network drive mapping, VPN (Global Protect) support, and NAS system troubleshooting.
· Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, and connectivity issues.
· Support and configure Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook 2013 or higher).
· Troubleshoot enterprise applications, including Adobe and Java.
· Manage user accounts and password resets in Active Directory.
· Track and resolve tickets using ServiceNow or a similar IT ticketing system.
· Maintain professional and effective customer service, ensuring issues are addressed clearly and efficiently.
· Document troubleshooting steps and contribute to internal knowledge bases.
· Work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
· Follow company policies, including strict attendance and professionalism standards.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· 1 years of IT experience in a help desk or desktop support role.
· Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for technical issues.
· Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical solutions clearly.
· Experience working in a high-volume IT support environment.
· Proficiency with Windows 7 & 10, Office Suite, and enterprise applications.
· Experience using Active Directory for password resets.
· Ability to remain patient and professional when assisting users with technical issues.
· Strong documentation skills and ability to follow established IT processes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with ServiceNow or other IT ticketing systems.
Knowledge of Global Protect VPN, NAS systems, and network administration.
Prior experience in government or enterprise IT support.
Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-changing environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Location: Onsite at the Data Center in Frankfort, KY.
Workspace: Cubicle environment, cleaned and sanitized twice daily.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $20.25 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
