We’re hiring one dedicated in-person tutor to support high school students at Nelson Mandela High School in preparation for the Algebra I and Living Environment Regents exams. As a tutor, you will push into classrooms to provide targeted academic assistance to 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students who still need to pass these exams. You will work alongside teachers to reinforce key concepts, lower the student-to-educator ratio, and ensure students receive personalized support to improve their academic performance.
While a strong Algebra I background is required, prior experience in Living Environment is not necessary.

What You’ll Do:
- Push into Algebra I and Living Environment classrooms to provide individualized and small-group academic support
- Work closely with teachers to reinforce key Algebra I concepts and help students build confidence in their math skills
- Assist students in preparing for the Algebra I and Living Environment Regents exams through targeted instruction and review sessions
- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student engagement and academic success
- Adapt instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of students who require additional Regents exam preparation
- Days: Tuesday and Thursday
- Time: 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM
- Duration: March 18, 2025 – May 29, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
- Key Dates Off:
- April 14th–April 18th (Spring Recess)
- Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching high school-level Algebra I
- Subject Proficiency: Strong background in Algebra I is required; experience in Living Environment is not necessary
- Team Player: Collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to effectively support diverse learners
- Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students
- Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently
- Competitive Pay: Earn $22/hr with the opportunity to increase to $24.20/hr through a completion bonus
