About the Role:We’re hiring one dedicated in-person tutor to provide small-group Algebra I instruction focused on Regents Exam preparation for high school students at The Academy of Urban Planning and Engineering. As a tutor, you’ll work as push-in support in various high school math classrooms, partnering with teachers to deliver targeted instruction that strengthens students’ mathematical skills and improves their Regents scores.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to deliver targeted, culturally responsive instruction in Algebra I
- Provide push-in support by assisting teachers during lessons and working with small groups of students
- Reinforce key Algebra I concepts and problem-solving strategies to help students prepare for the Regents exam
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that motivates students to excel in math
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support academic growth
Schedule:
- Days: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- Time: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
- Duration: March 17, 2025 – May 2, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
- Key Dates Off:
- March 21: High School 6-12 Parent-Teacher Conferences
- March 31: Eid al-Fitr
- April 14–18: Spring Recess
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching high school Algebra I, especially in Regents Exam preparation
- Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of high school Algebra I concepts and Regents exam requirements
- Team Player: A collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with diverse audiences
- Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students
- Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently
