About the Role:

We’re hiring one dedicated in-person tutor to provide small-group Math and ELA instruction at PS 23 Carter G. Woodson. The tutor will work as a "push-in" support within 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade classrooms, focusing on test readiness with a special emphasis on ELA. In addition to academic support, the tutor will assist with lunch duty, as all 3rd-5th grade students attend lunch during the same period.

What You’ll Do:

• Work closely with teachers to provide engaging, small-group instruction in Math and ELA
• Provide push-in classroom support, helping students develop strong literacy and numeracy skills
• Focus on ELA and test readiness strategies to boost student confidence and performance
• Assist with lunch duty during the shared lunch period for grades 3-5
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that motivates students to excel
  
  

Schedule:

• Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
• Time: 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM
• Duration: March 18, 2025 – May 22, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
• Key Dates Off:
• April 14–18: Spring Recess
  

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching elementary school Math and ELA
• Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of elementary-level Math and ELA concepts
• Team Player: A collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students
• Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences
• Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students
• Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently
