About the Role:
We’re hiring four dedicated in-person tutors to provide small-group ELA and Math instruction to K-2 and 4th-grade students at PS 42 Claremont. Three tutors will work with Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd-grade students, while one tutor will focus on 4th-grade student groups. Morning sessions will emphasize ELA instruction, transitioning to math instruction closer to the afternoon.
As an elementary math and ELA tutor, you’ll collaborate with classroom teachers to deliver tailored small-group instruction, helping students enhance their skills, build confidence, and achieve academic success.
What You’ll Do:
- Work closely with teachers and school leaders to provide engaging and focused small-group instruction in ELA and Math for your assigned grade levels (Kindergarten through 2nd grade, or 4th grade).
- Foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and resilience.
- Be a valued part of a team dedicated to transforming educational outcomes in underserved communities.
Schedule:
- Days: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
- Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- Duration: January 13, 2025 – April 11, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
- Key Dates Off:
- January 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- January 27: Professional Development Day (no students)
- January 29: Lunar New Year
- February 17–21: Midwinter Recess
- March 31: Eid al-Fitr
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching elementary school math and ELA.
- Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Math and ELA at the elementary level.
- Team Player: Collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences.
- Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students.
- Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently.
