Our faculty collaborate with a wide range of experts to not only deliver the best possible clinical care to our patients but also conduct research in advancing lung and sleep science. Our collaborators include scientists at NIOSH, the WVU Department of Physiology, the WVU Center of Inhalation Toxicology, West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute, the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and the WVU Critical Care and Trauma Institute, among others. We are equally committed to exploring and mitigating rural lung and sleep health disparities and improving delivery of care to the Appalachian region.

The System has undergone significant expansion in specialty and sub-specialty care in areas such as cancer, heart and vascular, and neuroscience, among many others. The Health System operates West Virginia s first and only multi-organ transplant center, and opened a new, 150-bed Children s Hospital in September 2022. WVU Health System has more than 2,400 licensed beds, 3,900 providers, and nearly 30,000 employees. Anchored by a 700-bed academic medical center in Morgantown, the Health System includes more than 20 member hospitals that collectively serve a multi-state region that includes West Virginia, Western Maryland, Eastern Ohio, and Southwestern Pennsylvania
