Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Construction Superintendent to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of assigned projects, including planning, execution, and completion.
- Maintain clear lines of communication between project managers, client personnel, subcontractor and vendor personnel.
- Issue direction to subcontractor/vendor personnel based on contract documents.
- Create and adjust weekly detailed look-ahead schedules as they relate to the overall project schedule.
- Schedule and attend inspections and walk-throughs with clients, inspecting authorities, designers, etc.
- Manage and oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEOC for small projects or major portions of larger projects.
- Approve and/or record unit cost information for weekly reports and complete daily reports, logs, and tracking reports.
- Support project closeouts by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating with owners, architects, and governing authorities.
- Participate in negotiations with owners and architects to gain agreement for project changes.
- Participate with project teams in preparation and presentation for project review meetings, including monthly reviews and other key project meetings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (highly preferred).
- 5-10 years of construction experience with at least 5 years as a superintendent or similar role, preferably on federal contracts.
- Experience in and ability to utilize the 3-phase inspection program.
- Demonstrated knowledge and track record of contract compliance in government construction.
- Must have an instructor-signed OSHA 30-hour training card.
- Must be familiar with the requirements of EM 385-1-1 and have experience in hazard identification and safety compliance.
- Must be capable of interpreting a critical path schedule and construction drawings.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certified.
- USACE CQM desired.
- Ability to apply fundamentals of the means and methods of construction management to projects.
- Proficiency in scheduling software desired (Primavera preferred, but MS Project acceptable).
- Ability to understand document changes and impact on the project schedule.
- Must be able to pass a federal background check.
