Payroll Analyst

Join our direct client's dynamic payroll team and help drive timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing. We're looking for an experienced US Payroll Analyst to assist with day-to-day payroll activities, resolve complex payroll-related issues, and contribute to continuous process improvements.

📍 Location: Downtown Chicago

📝 Responsibilities:

• Perform daily payroll activities to ensure timely and accurate payroll production, including quarterly and year-end tasks.
• Review payroll adjustments for compliance with payroll policies and tax regulations, advising management on corrective actions as needed.
• Respond to payroll inquiries, explaining pay adjustments, tax law changes, and policy impacts.
• Assist with payroll system testing (e.g., Workday) and work with vendors to ensure payroll changes are properly reflected.
• Analyze and recommend improvements to existing payroll processes, policies, and practices to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HR, Finance, etc.) to improve payroll operations and support the continuous improvement of payroll processes.
• Participate in payroll meetings and contribute insights on compliance and process enhancements.

🎯 Qualifications:

• 10 years of payroll experience with in-depth knowledge of payroll production, tax filings, and compliance.
• Extensive understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Solid experience with G/L, payroll accounting, garnishments, and year-end processing.
• Proficient in payroll systems (e.g., Workday), with hands-on experience in system/application testing.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on problem-solving and process optimization.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and deadline-driven work ethic.
• International payroll experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
