Key responsibilities:
Financial Records & Reporting
- Maintain financial transaction records by establishing accounts, posting transactions, and ensuring legal compliance
- Prepare periodic financial statements, including ledgers, income statements, balance sheets, and job cost reports
- Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
Payroll & Taxes
- Prepare weekly payroll, including maintaining payroll master files, benefits administration, and Davis Bacon Reports
- Prepare payroll tax reports, including 941s, W-2s, state withholding, and SUI
- complete monthly sales/use tax and excise tax returns
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Ensure accounts payable are paid in a timely manner and appropriate discounts are taken
- Apply daily cash receipts to customer accounts and ensure accounts receivable are collected promptly
- Generate monthly pay applications and invoices for all open jobs
Systems & compliance
- Set up and maintain contracted jobs in Jonas Software
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and files
- Prepare required PBC schedules for external accountants for corporate tax returns and independent Accountant's Financial Reports
Qualifications:
Technical Skills & knowledge
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP)
- Proficiency in Jonas Account Software or willingness to learn
- Familiarity with spreadsheets, formulas, and data anaysis tools; prior experience with Access database is a plus.
- Ability to spot and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 5 years accounting experience
- Prior experience in construction industry cost accounting is preferred
