Description
SERVICE LINE GOAL: To increase awareness of the effects of alcohol and other drugs on individuals, families, and the community. To increase awareness of the need for prevention of substance abuse and the importance of treating substance users and their families. To provide quality treatment, education, and prevention services in the area of substance use treatment and employee assistance services. To maintain all necessary documentation for SB67, SB123, courts, etc., in a timely fashion to meet contractual obligations for such. To work collaboratively and effectively with all payers and referral sources.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with the Prairie View Substance Use Treatment Team to develop and provide quality treatment for substance using persons and their families.
- Provide inquiries, alcohol/drug assessments, intake evaluations and substance use disorder assessments, as requested and scheduled.
- Conduct forensic alcohol/drug assessments for and make recommendations to the courts, employers, schools, or other organizations, as requested/contracted.
- Implement the Substance Use Treatment Services according to treatment design.
- Participate in the coordination of Substance Use Treatment Services with other Prairie View services and outside service agencies.
- Communicate regularly with referral sources at admission, as needed during treatment, and at discharge.
- Communicate with previous providers and funding sources to verify status and coverage.
- Provide assessment and therapeutic follow through for patients identified as dually diagnosed and those with primary non-substance use diagnoses.
- Provide clinical therapy services to individuals (including older adults), couples, and families.
- Obtain and maintain training and certification for SB123.
- Oversee and manage Outpatient Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program including program development, clinical direction, improvement, and evaluation.
- Support/supervise assigned SUD Staff
- Prepare for and facilitate AAPS and KDADs site survey visits as well as working with our Compliance officer to review findings and prepare appropriate response/action plan as needed.
- Attend clinical staffing and department meetings.
- Complete all required forms, evaluations, and monthly billing (i.e., SB123 & SB6) to meet Kansas Department of Corrections and Kansas Sentencing Commission requirements
- Train/educate staff (Admissions Department and clinicians) regarding AAPS and KDADS standards.
- Provide clinical supervision for SUD clinical staff and other clinical staff moving towards LCAC licensure as requested. This would include oversight and direction to staff through regular contact (i.e. staff meetings, individual supervision, chart reviews etc.). Coordinate staff training. Assist with staff planning for professional development.
- Work cooperatively with Utilization Review staff and treatment team to assure authorization is in place to provide services, and specific services are identified on the active treatment plan.
- Provide education and consultation services to the community.
- Provide community education on substance use disorder treatment, as negotiated with supervisor.
- 80% of respondents evaluating presentations will indicate goals were met.
- Work with volunteers when assigned.
- Support the development and maintenance of self-help groups where appropriate.
- Work with county law enforcement personnel to maintain working relationships with police and court systems.
- Maintain regular contact with assigned schools or employers for consultation and facilitation of referrals.
- Maintain skills and upgrade knowledge in the Substance Use Disorder Treatment and EAP fields.
- Participate in continuing education activities and required inservices (such as Infection Control, SUD supervisor training etc.) as requested, to enhance and improve job performance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, with Kansas license
- Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor AND Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker
- 3 years’ experience in work related to substance use disorder treatment and/or comparable experience managing outpatient SUD programs and supervising bachelor and master level SUD staff.
- Must have good listening skills, verbal skills, and written communication skills
- Must be able to observe patient demeanor and non-verbal communication for assessment purposes
- Must be able and willing to adjust work schedule, based on patient load
- Must maintain CEs and Kansas credentials for Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor
- Must be able to communicate effectively with referral sources and external care providers
- Must have credentials, experience, or other data to be privileged to do outpatient admissions, individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and collateral consultations
- Must have a valid Kansas driver’s license and be insurable through Prairie View insurance company
- Must be proficient at basic keyboarding/word-processing skills
- Must be able to pass Kansas Bureau of Investigation Screen and the Central Registry Screen for both adults and children
