Responsibilities

Hours for this role are Monday - Friday, 8a-430p

As a Psychiatric Technician, you will play a crucial role in the care and support of our young patients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring and Support: Observe and assist patients in managing their daily functioning and mental health symptoms, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Therapeutic Environment: Create and maintain a therapeutic and healing environment that prioritizes the best patient experience and care.
  • Psychoeducational Groups: Plan and facilitate engaging psychoeducational groups, empowering patients with knowledge and skills for their recovery.
  • Documentation: Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner to ensure accurate patient records and care continuity.
  • Crisis Management: Utilize effective de-escalation techniques and therapeutic approaches to manage the milieu, focusing on reducing the use of restraint and seclusion whenever possible.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the clinical team under the direct supervision of the RN, performing tasks delegated by the RN and collaborating to ensure safe patient care.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Preferred 6 months of previous experience in a mental health setting.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong communication abilities, both verbal and written, with a professional demeanor.
    • Ability to make sound judgment calls in high-pressure situations.
    • Proficient in multitasking, time management, and prioritization.
    • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Crisis Management: Ability to react quickly and calmly, employing de-escalation techniques and least restrictive interventions.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Joint Commission standards for restraint and seclusion use.
  • Professionalism: Display a consistent professional attitude and commitment to confidentiality, while being open to new ideas and approaches.
  • Adaptability: Ability to smoothly transition between diverse tasks and make timely decisions in stressful circumstances.
  • Quality Focus: A proactive approach to improving care quality, demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness in all responsibilities.

**Pay range for this position is $18.45 to $23.75 depending on education and experience.

An individual's pay rate within the posted range is determined by several factors, including skills, experience, education, and market conditions. Additionally, we consider internal equity to ensure fairness within our organization.
