POSITION SUMMARY:
The Controller is a key member of the Operating Management Team. The position is responsible for ensuring the operating entity is meeting the necessary functions related to financial control. This includes but is not limited too; reporting, Accounts Receivable, project and fixed asset control, and the A/P payment cycle. The Controller will ensure that the site follows Company policies, procedures, and all risk is managed.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: B.S. Degree in Accounting or Finance (REQUIRED)
Preferably a CPA or MBA post graduate education.
Work Experience: 5 years in a Controller role and 10 years in increasing Financial and Accounting positions. Preferably, supporting companies with $100M companies and multi-state operations.
Skills: Excellent people skills at a management level including knowledge and adaptability to systems.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Produce a monthly forecast and provide guidance on the annual budget.
- Ensure all profit centers are compliant with accurate and timely bookkeeping and reporting.
- Assist all profit centers and internal management teams in all areas of query and concern.
- Understand and support the requirements as set out by the corporate financial office.
- Work with all profit centers and internal management teams to ensure support and understanding of business rules and ethics.
- Share information that would benefit team members by finding ways to improve the productivity and profitability of the facility.
- Manage projects including growth capital and large expense projects geared at improving overall profitability.
- Must have the ability to manage and influence people in process, procedure and accountability.
Candidates for this position should have strong organizational skills, immense attention to detail, positive communications skills, and react well to deadline pressure. The Controller must be comfortable working in an office and plant environment and should be motivated to learn all aspects of the distribution center and manufacturing operations.

The position requires an understanding of ethical and appropriate business response. They should have the ability to assess various situations and environments objectively. The Controller must be able to recognize and respond to situations that require a sense of urgency or are the result of non-compliance with corporate policies.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Must have ability to read and interpret financial statements, general business periodicals, professional journals, operating and maintenance instructions procedure manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Above average ability to calculate figures and amounts while understanding the connections in a business model of the various connectors, which enable managers to present an opinion. An advanced ability to quickly asses and review numbers as presented.
REASONING ABILITY
Must have ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Must have high computer skills, be capable of utilizing excel, and all accounting software. Proficient knowledge and application of accounting principles is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment can be, at times, loud.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear, sit and stand. Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
The performance of the Controller will be measured as follows:
Operating standards - The Controller will need to meet or exceed the Operating Standards set in the areas of quality of financial accounting, cost control, safety, planning and budgeting, stakeholder satisfaction, supervision, efficiency, and productivity. Such standards will be set annually and communicated to the manager.
Personal growth - Each year there will be professional goals developed and agreed to by the manager and supervisor.
Employee relations – The employee will be evaluated regarding his/her behaviors associated with appropriate human interaction, respect, and communication.
Creativity – This will be evaluated by how active the employee is in participating in advancing the business through new and innovative ideas.
