Position Summary:
Also referred to as a Purchasing Specialist, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for the
purchasing of goods and services that are required for company operations. The Procurement
Specialist must also ensure that all purchases meet company quality and other requirements
and are obtained at the best possible price.
Essential functions and responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)
To ensure that the supply chain needs of a company are met in a timely and cost-
effective manner
Reviews costs
Develop relationships with vendors and suppliers
Offer strategies and solutions to help the company better manage costs on supplies and
vendor services
Work with warehouse personnel to manage inventory
Track orders
Resolve issues concerning price disputes
Making bids for a vendor’s services
Identify potential supplier risks
Manage supply chain disruptions
Optimize inventory by monitoring stock levels
Create and process purchase orders
Qualifications required:
Intermediate Computer Proficiency
Strong Math, Analytical, Organization and Communication Skills
Strategic planning
Experience with ITAR regulations
Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS) or with other heavily
regulated industries such as aerospace, department of defense, and aviation
Must be detail oriented.
Must possess strong negotiation skills.
Must be able to work independently as required.
Must understand specific business operations and processes.
