CONTEXT: The DOT Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the organization complies with all applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This includes managing driver qualifications, vehicle maintenance, hours of service (HOS), recordkeeping, and safety programs. The coordinator works to maintain a high standard of safety and regulatory compliance in the company's transportation operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DOT regulations (FMCSA, EPA, etc.) and ensure all activities are compliant with them.
- Oversee and ensure proper documentation for drivers, including background checks, medical exams, drug testing, and driving records.
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety training programs to ensure all drivers and personnel are properly trained in safety practices and regulations.
- Monitor and track driver hours of service to ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
- Maintain accurate records, including driver logs, vehicle inspections, maintenance schedules, and other required documents.
- Ensure that all company vehicles are regularly inspected and maintained per DOT regulations and are in safe operating condition.
- Oversee the company’s drug and alcohol testing program, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations for random, pre-employment, and post-accident testing.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required by DOT authorities and other relevant agencies.
- Coordinate and prepare for internal and external audits and inspections related to DOT compliance.
- Regularly review DOT guidelines and regulations to ensure the company stays compliant with any new or revised rules.
- Assist with investigations of accidents or violations involving company drivers or vehicles, ensuring that proper corrective actions are taken.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent (a degree in business, logistics, or a related field is a plus).
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards, including FMCSA regulations.
- Experience in a compliance or regulatory role, preferably in the transportation industry.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with drivers, management, and regulatory agencies.
- Experience with recordkeeping and document management systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Certification in DOT compliance or safety (e.g., Certified Transportation Professional, Safety Management).
- Previous experience with DOT audits or inspections.
- Familiarity with transportation management software.
Salary : $75,000 - $100,000
