Education: Bachelor’s or master's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution (REQUIRED)
Required experience: Laboratory training and/or experience in high complexity testing (2 years minimum), Pipetting (2 years minimum), PCR (2 years minimum)
Responsibilities:
- Specimen Handling & Testing: Receive, label, and store patient specimens securely, ensuring proper handling and compliance. Perform required tests following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all assays on the testing menu.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Follow laboratory procedures for specimen processing, test analysis, result reporting, and record maintenance. Test proficiency samples under the same conditions as patient specimens and maintain records. Adhere to quality control policies, documenting QC activities, calibrations, maintenance, and procedural checks.
- Result Recording & Reporting: Accurately record test results electronically and on paper, ensuring compliance. Address inquiries regarding test results and verify that results are reported only after all corrective actions are taken and the test system is functioning properly.
- Equipment & Laboratory Maintenance: Organize and store samples according to safety protocols to ensure specimen integrity. Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment, perform routine calibrations, document corrective actions for performance deviations, and maintain accurate equipment records and daily logs for compliance.
- Regulatory Compliance & Professional Development: Stay current with scientific advancements and regulatory updates (OSHA, CLIA, CDC, FDA). Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory environment to support efficient operations.
- Laboratory Management: Manage lab operations, including ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, and ensuring timely availability of materials for testing.
- Supervision & Support: Supervise the daily operations of high-complexity testing performedand be accessible to testing personnel at all times during testing for resolving technical problems. Monitor test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of analytical performance are maintained.
