Upon training, under the leadership of Director of Antibody Development, the Research Assistant will be responsible for performing assigned tasks of various antibody development projects, including but not limited to immunogen preparation, immunization, harvesting lymphocytes, hybridoma development and small-scale antibody production. The ability to learn in a timely fashion to operate computers, general lab equipment as well as high throughput and analytical equipment is essential. This position requires excellent time management, efficient working pace and organizational skills.

Duties
- Perform work adhering to SOPs and Project Specs.
- Perform all aspects of work associated with antibody development.
- Perform myeloma and hybridoma cell culture for antibody development projects.
- Perform immunoassays associated with the project goal.
- Perform basic biochemical assays (gel electrophoresis and protein assays).
- Perform tissue culture in aseptic conditions.
- Maintain log of cells stored in liquid nitrogen.
- Maintain Antibody Development records that will provide traceability for all projects using appropriate forms.
- Perform all tasks in a timely manner with high quality and reproducibility.
- Shared responsibility for monitoring and topping liquid nitrogen tanks.
- Promptly communicate with supervisor regarding unexpected events such as product delays, low-yields, errors, and cell culture contamination.
- Help the Director maintain a timely antibody development project schedule.
- Ability to work with small laboratory animals.
- Perform other job duties as required and any other reasonable task as defined from time to time by supervisor and the management.
- Maintain the facility in clean and organized state.
Requirements
- Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline or equivalent required.
- Manual dexterity required to operate standard laboratory equipment (i.e. pipette, etc.).
- Basic scientific calculation skills (serial dilutions, molar calculations, etc).
- Must demonstrate organizational skills and able to handle multiple assignments with short deadlines.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently in the lab once fully trained.
- Ability to work well as part of a team.
- Ability to handle small animals (mice & rats).
- Daily work record keeping and detailed documentation.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate data collection and reporting.
Preferred skills and experience
- Knowledge in hybridoma technology and automation for high throughput screening and experience in a variety of biochemical and cellular assay techniques.
- Knowledge with tissue culture practices and good sterile technique.
- Familiar with automation and software.
